Released earlier today was the first full-length trailer for the new horror film based on Stephen King’s IT where we see evil clowns hidings in the shadows, and even in sewage drains. This will be the second adaptation of Stephen King’s famous novel, the first being a television miniseries released back in 1990.
The new adaptation stars Bill Skarsgard (there’s another one?!), Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special), and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things). The film is directed by Andres Muschietti (Mama) and written by Cary Joji Fukunaga (Sin Nombre, Jane Eyre, True Detective, Beasts of No Nation) among others.
The story is about seven children being terrorized by the infamous IT, usually appearing as a clown, as it exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting its prey, which tend to be young children. According to Collider, this is going to be the first of two IT films based on Stephen King’s novel. The first one will tell the story from the perspective of children while the second film will tell the story from the perspective of adults. This seems to be an indication that the filmmakers want the film to be an honest and close adaptation of the novel, which is also split into these two parts, entitled “The Loser’s Club” for the children’s perspective, and “Pennywise” / It for the adult’s perspective.
